Vashawn Mitchell Scores His First #1 Debut Album

vashawn-mitchell-secret-placeCongratulations to Grammy Award nominated worship leader VaShawn Mitchell, whose latest release Secret Place: Live In South Africa debuts this week atop Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums Chart. Secret Place marks Mitchell’s seventh solo album and first #1 debut.

The new release is led by the single “Joy”, which is currently #15 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay Chart. Fifteen tracks strong, the project features guest appearances from Tasha Cobbs, Leah Clark Leach, and Taelia Robinson. Cobbs and fellow Grammy winner BeBe Winans team with Mitchell on a remake of his smash single “Nobody Greater”. The deluxe version of the project features total of twenty-one tracks.

“Last year, I heard God say, ‘Record and Release this next project in South Africa’ and in that moment I knew I had no choice to obey Him. What I didn’t know was where the road ahead of “yes” would take me and my team,” shared Mitchell. “Having this project debut at number 1 is an incredible honor and is a sign of the plans God had for this body of work … let’s keep inviting the world to experience the Secret Place.”

The Stellar Award winning artist, known for huge singles such as “Nobody Greater”, “Turning Around For Me”, “Chasing After You”, and “My Worship Is For Real”, has been promoting the new release around the globe as he toured Africa in September. The domestic leg of the Secret Place Tour features appearances from JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Tasha Cobbs, Anthony Brown & group therAPy, Le’Andria Johnson, and Bryan Popin at selected stops. The tour kicked off on November 9 in Chicago and continued with stops in Louisville, KY; Warren, OH; and Columbia, SC. The tour will continue with stops in Philadelphia (December 7 at Theatre of Living Arts) and New York City (December 9 at United Palace).
