Singer & Songwriter Cheryl Fortune Launches Solo Career

cheryl-fortune-pressHouston based singer and songwriter Cheryl Fortune is set to step from the background into the foreground with the upcoming release of her debut single. The new track, titled “Fighters” is set to hit gospel radio in January 2017 and is produced by Lucius B. Hoskins.

Fortune is widely known throughout the industry for her work as a former member of Grammy nominated and Stellar Award winning ensemble James Fortune & FIYA. Her work as an arranger, vocalist, writer, and vocal producer were featured on the projects from the group including Live Through It, Grace Gift, Identity, Encore, and Transformation. She’s also contributed background vocals on projects from Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, Zacardi Cortez, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and Isaac Carree. Most recently, she toured with Kirk Franklin on his popular 20 Years In One Night Tour earlier this year.

As a songwriter, she is known for co-writing the single “I Trust You”, which spent 28 consecutive weeks atop Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart. She also co-wrote the single “Hold On”, featuring Grammy Award winners Monica and Fred Hammond. She’s also penned the single “God Held Me”, recorded by Zacardi Cortez.

Fortune is excited about the launch of her new single and her solo career.  “With this single, I created an anthem for women that would offer a sense of hope, strength and boldness,” states Fortune.

Full of grace, style, and poise, the gifted vocalist is ready to begin the next chapter of her life with songs designed to empower broken women to overcome and survive abuse and challenges of any kind.
