JJ Hairston-I See Victory

Historically, the foundation of the gospel music genre has been centered around choral music. As the focus of the genre has diversified over the last two decades, one of the aggregations that have kept choir music in the forefront is JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise. With six albums under their belt, the Connecticut based choir is responsible for hits such as “Incredible God, Incredible Praise”, “Lord You’re Mighty”, “Resting On His Promise”, “Awesome God”, and more. They return with their seventh and arguably most potent release titled I See Victory.

The deluxe version of this release boasts 18 tracks, their largest single offering to date. Recorded live in Connecticut, this project is unique as it is the first where the choir’s leader, JJ Hairston, actually had the concept for the project before songs ever came together. (Read more about that here.) With the concept of Victory clearly outlined, each song serves as an apposite soundtrack to elements necessary for victory over life’s trials as well as keys to life’s ultimate victory. All songs clearly point to the power of worship and the character of God as pivotal keys to victory as outlined in powerful songs such as “You Are Worthy” and “All Things Well”.

JJ Hairston of Youthful PraiseThis project is arguably the most star-studded release of Youthful Praise’s storied catalog. Hairston continues his longtime partnership with Deon Kipping on the powerful “You Are Great”, which infuses elements of the classic hymn “How Great Thou Art”. Speaking of throwbacks, legendary vocalist Karen Clark-Sheard lends her vocals to their remake of the classic song “Awe Of You”, which gets a worthy reprise that features Kierra Sheard. Jason Nelson makes a fantastic impact on the powerful “I Feel You Moving”, while VaShawn Mitchell perfectly compliments the energetic “Nothing Compares”.

However, for all of the amazing guest collaborations found on the project [which include appearances from Donnie McClurkin (“Bless Me”) and Zebulon Ellis (“It Pushed Me”)], the members of Youthful Praise do their effective singing on this project that will leave you in pure awe. Brittney Wright‘s energetic vocals on the up tempo, Brooklyn-infused jam “Wonders To Perform” is one that you can’t miss. Meanwhile, one of the project’s undeniable standouts is the work that members Marc Britt and Leah Clark Leach contribute to the single “You’re Mighty”. Their tag team lead vocals are guaranteed to send you into a Sunday Morning fit on any random day of the week. One listen and you’ll see!!

For the incredible catalog that JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise has already amassed, I See Victory is arguably their greatest work to date. From start to finish, simply press “play” and let this project assist the lens of your life and you will indeed see Victory! Add this one to your collection immediately!
