AVERY SUNSHINE: Twenty Sixty Four

Gifted singer, songwriter, and producer Avery Sunshine continues to pour her brand of sunshine into the world of R&B and soul with her new release Twenty Sixty Four. After giving us hits such as “Ugly Part of Me”, “All In My Head”, and her #1 single “Call My Name”, the Atlanta native returns with a 14-track effort that continues to fuse her love for people with her love for God. The title track and full project celebrates her recent marriage to her long time producer and collaborator Dana Johnson. Tracks such as the lead single “Come Do Nothing”, the title track, and “The Ice Cream Song” reflect the power of new found and tested love, which she hopes will last at least through the year 2064. Quickly, Sunshine has become one of the brightest rising artists of the decade and this album continues her powerful catalog of consistently sound music. Add this one to your arsenal quickly.

PJ MORTON: Gumbo

For more than a decade, PJ Morton has been one of the most consistent voices in R&B and soul music. Over the last five years, he’s become part of the hit pop group Maroon 5 but that has not stopped his solo efforts. Now owner of his own imprint, Morton Records, Morton returns with his latest effort aptly titled Gumbo. While this is one of his shortest albums to date, it’s chock full of musical goodness. He retools singles such as “First Began”, “Claustrophobic”, and “Sticking To My Guns” and teams with Grammy nominee BJ The Chicago Kid on the funky “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”. Perhaps the most thought provoking track on the project is “Religion”, where he asserts that religion serves as the scapegoat for some of the world’s biggest tragedies. This is another classic album that you do not want to miss.

PREASHEA HILLIARD: The Glory Experience

Houston based worship leader Preashea Hilliard returns with her long awaited sophomore effort titled The Glory Experience. After a six year recording layoff, she is back with a project that is as powerful as it is poignant. Sixteen tracks strong, this effort is nearly 90 minutes long. Led by the single “No God Like Our God”, the effort showcases Hilliard’s comfort within the realm of worship and prayer. Her cover of Matt Redman’s “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)” along with the track Tasha Cobbs penned “You Amaze Me” are among the album’s many highlights. Be on the lookout for the pop-filled energetic anthem “Let’s Go Up”.

Check out “Turn It A Loose” featuring Sunday Best standout Danetra Moore. Isaac Carree lends his vocals to “One Touch” while his fellow Men of Standard brother Lowell Pye leads the album’s lead single “Miracle”.
